I/O Extended 2017 Hong Kong

The annual developer conference of Google, Google I/O will take place in Mountain View during May 17-19 this year (2017).

We know that it’s hard to get tickets and attend in person. No worries, we (GDG Hong Kong) will host the I/O Extended in Hong Kong. The event includes a livestream of the I/O’s keynote session (Day 1).

Sit back and relax – we have food and drinks provided. And it is FREE.

Ping has been working in ICT industry over 15 years as a business development and marketing professional, also a columnist for multiple well-known media .

She is a serial female entrepreneur and currently the CEO of EVENTION. She also contributes to the Internet community by taking volunteer work of being Director and Startup Working Group Convener of Internet Society Hong Kong and Director of Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation.

As a young company, its innovative projects have received fundings like Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) 2016/17, Cyberport Incubation Programme 2016/17 and DBS Accelerator Program2016. In 2015, Mr. Kinni Mew was nominated by CityU to join the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP). In collaboration with Stanford Graduate School of Business, Mr. Kinni Mew went to Silicon Valley for a one-week entrepreneurship boot camp and visited Google, Facebook Headquarters and other companies at Silicon Valley. Mr. Mew was then awarded with cash prize of HK$100,000 in the ‘Global Entrepreneurship week China-Hong Kong’.

Kara Erickson, Software Engineer of the Angular team at Google

Kara is a software engineer on the Angular team at Google and a co-organizer of the Angular-SF Meetup. She works predominantly on the Angular Material 2 project and the forms module in Angular core. Prior to Google, she helped build UI components in Angular for guest management systems at OpenTable. She’s looking forward to visiting Hong Kong for the first time and engaging with the front end community.

Google Developer Day China 2016

It’s been more than 4 years since Google last Google Developer Day (GDD) in China. This year, Google decided to host the GDD in Beijing and Shanghai on Dec 8 (it’s tomorrow!) and Dec 14 respectively.

To save your time flying in town (we all know it’s a weekday… phew), Google provides live-streaming for the first hour of the event!

Workshop on TensorFlow

Hi all! It’s been just two weeks from our DevFest this year and we’re now having another event!

It’s been our honour to have Wolff Dobson of the Google Developer Relations team to come in town and give a workshop on TensorFlow!

This will be an interactive workshop with Wolff doing some coding, presenting some slides and hanging around to see the progress of individuals.

You’re highly recommended (we try to avoid the word “required”) to bring yourself a laptop so that you can follow better by doing some hands-on exercises. To make the whole event more efficient, we encourage you to follow the instructions as at: so you do not need to download it at the venue.

Ms.Yuki Nakagawa of the RT Corporation
Yuki Nakagawa, Born in 1971, Founder and the CEO of RT Corporation headquartered in the center of  ́Akihabara Electric Town ́, Tokyo, Japan, is a well established specialist in robotics in 2005. She has developed various intelligent robots such as autonomous and collaborative mobile robots for the RoboCup small robot soccer league and the cutting-edge humanoid robot RIC 90. Prior to her venture at RT Corporation, she participated as a researcher in the Kitano Symbiotic System Research Project, that is a part of the Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology program within the Japan Science and Technology Agency. She also served as a lead curator at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, and an assistant professor at the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology. She has been commended for numerous significant contributions in robotics from the Japanese Society of Artificial Intelligence, the Japan Society for Fuzzy Technologies and Intelligent Informatics and RoboCup Japan Open. She earned M.Sc. in System Engineering and B.E. in Measurement and Control Engineering from Hosei University, Japan. She was selected “25 women in robotics you need to know about – 2015” by Robohub (

鄧先生現任職香港生產力促進局智能製造及材料科技部的項目主任,主要負責智能模具生產自動化項目,及提升企業達到德國工業4.0的里程。鄧先生更在2016年考獲由德國Fraunhofer IPT認可的工業4.0培訓師及專業資格。鄧先生在大學主修機械工程,畢業後在有關行業中工作超過二十多年,曾在模具生產及零件加工自動化系統中擔任技術經理多年,在任期間,曾安裝及培訓超過十多間企業,包括有機械手的自動化生產線體、及非機械手的自動化生產系統,有實際自動化系統的設計、計劃、安裝、培訓及實施的經驗。在生產力促進局,獨力付責(i-Mould) 智能模具生產自動化項目,建立一個由加工中心、火花機、三座標、清洗機、機械手、料庫、上下料架、安全護欄等所組成的智能製造技術展示中心(i-mfg Technology Centre)。該中心已安裝調試成功,可供各界參觀及應用。
